Description
Japanese blue and white Arita charger, 17th century, decorated in underglaze blue to the central roundel with branches of fruiting pomegranate and buddha's hand citron amongst foliage, the rim with eight alternating Kraak-style panels containing either an artemisia leaf against a scrolling ground or a single peony against foliage; divided by narrow panels with stylised cruciform motif against cell and woven grounds.
