Japanese blue and white Arita ewer, circa 1680, with early mounts, with loop handle painted in a rich underglaze blue, decorated on the the globular body with three panels containing peonies, against a background of karakusa interspersed with flower heads, with loop handle, the domed silver metal lid with a scroll thumb piece and what appears to be an early Dutch silver mark, height (including lid):11 13/16in. (30cm.), height without lid: 10 3/4in. (27.5cm.)
