Description

Japanese blue and white Arita ewer, circa 1680, with early mounts, painted in a rich underglaze blue, decorated on the the globular body with three panels containing peonies, against a background of karakusa interspersed with flower heads, with a loop handle, the domed silver metal lid with a scroll thumb piece and what appears to be an early Dutch silver mark.

Condition: Slight rubbing to glaze underneath lid; slight surface scratches to glaze
