Description
Large graduated pair of Chinese famille rose sleeve vases, Yongzheng (1723-35), each with a leaf-shaped cartouche containing a landscape with pine, pagodas and mountains visible in the background; the bodies of the vases also decorated with an assortment of vessels containing flowering branches of peony, finger fruit and peaches scattered at their feet, the rims with cracked-ice pomegranates and foliated red cell ground palmates with peonies, ruyi heads and leafy scrollwork in gilt below a pink diaper band and brown glazed rim.

Height: 40 cm. (15 3/4in.) and 42 cm. (16 1/2in.)
Condition:
Shorter vase with old restoration to rim and lacking a portion of the rim, the taller vase with old restoration to the rim
Notes:
A baluster vase with the same decoration can be found in the collection of the National Trust at Lanhydrock, Cornwall (NT 881043)
