Description
High carat gold posy hoop, circa 1700. The substantial high carat gold band is inscribed to interior in italic script with the posy motto : Knitt in one by god alone and a maker’s mark. The posy motto is cited in Evans English Posies and Posy Rings. The ring is size P [US 7 and 1/2] and the hoop is 1/4 of an inch wide. It weighs 8.6 grams, a substantial weight for a posy ring and is in very fine and most wearable condition.
