Description
Japanese tokkuri, circa 1680, Edo period (1615-1868), in the kakiemon style decorated in Holland in the 18th century, of square cross-section with slightly tapering sides, painted with enamels of blue, green, yellow, red, and black enamels, with gilded highlights, decorated with chrysanthemums, ho-ho birds, butterfly and swallow above banded wheat sheaves and partridges , alternating with sides decorated with a ho-ho bird amongst luxurious flowers, the sloping shoulders with green karakusa on a red ground, the trumpet neck with flower heads.

Condition: Hole to base, large chip to rim, both repaired to a high standard.
