Description
Japanese Imari barber's bowl, 17th century, decorated in the centre with a double-gourd jardinière of flowers and grasses, the rims with three shaped cartouches containing chrysanthemum, peony and dianthus, divided by alternating landscape vignettes of either a small dwelling with cherry blossom, or a lakeside pavillion with pine-clad peninsula; the reverse with a spray each of plum, peony and cherry, the base with concentric circles in underglaze blue.
Condition: Short stress-lines to reverse
