Description
Japanese blue and white octagonal dish, 18th century, decorated to the central roundel with a lakeside boating scene, containing a figure upon a boat with a canopy and two further figures on the rocky shore; one elderly figure in a bath chair and an attendant alongside, with a tree and plantain; a low hall or temple visible amongst mountains visible across the water; the rim with six scalloped cartouches containing inscriptions alternating with various cell and diaper pattern grounds.
