Japanese Arita blue and white cup, 19th century, decorated in underglaze blue with a patchwork design comprising two rows of alternating squares with cross-hatch pattern, the foot with a double circle; the inside of the rim with a narrow band of floral cell pattern, the foot left mostly unglazed to reveal the greyish body.
