Description
German Meissen model of a Bolognese hound (Bologner Hund), late 19th century, after the 18th century model by J. J. Kaendler, modelled in a seated position with a white coat with greyish-black patches, with blue crossed-swords mark to base.
Height: 23cm. (9 1/8in.)
Condition: breaks to tail, small chips to extremities.
A similar 19th century hound can be found in the V&A Museum Collection, CIRC.181-1955; Ceramics, Room 139. Johann Joachim Kändler, born 1706 - died 1775, made designs for the Meissen porcelain factory.
