Description
Chinese famille rose basket, Qianlong (1736-95), the interior decorated with sprays of peony issuing from stylised rockwork and a ruyi within a cellular hatch border to the rim, the pierced sides of the exterior decorated with flowers interspersed by roundels containing floral sprays above a lambrequin border to the spreading foot and a Greek scroll pattern to the rim, the applied jawbone handles with iron-red scrollwork; diameter: 15 ½ in. (39.5 cm); condition: minor frits, minor rubbing to enamels.
