Description
Chinese blue and white kraak dish with lobed rim, Transitional Period (1620-1683), c.1630, decorated in the central lobed octagonal roundel with floral sprays of peony and chrysanthemum, enclosed by ogee shaped cartouches with alternating cell grounds, the wide rim with eight compartments, six of which containing perching birds on fruiting boughs of peach, pomegranate and citrus, and two with flowering chrysanthemum, interspersed by narrow cellular cartouches, the reverse with eight further cartouches to the rim containing a repeated floral motif.
