J. & L. Hartzberg, was founded by John M. Hartzberg and Louis Hartzberg, in New York, in 1922. During the 1920s New York City was the centre for hand crafted platinum rings, set with diamond and gemstones. In 1934 John and Louis were trading from 48 W. 48th Street. In 1946 they took action against the New York Central Railroad Company, to recover the value of the contents of a sample trunk. From 1943 to 1950 their business was at 665 Fifth Avenue. Louis, who was married to Ruth, died in 1958.
