Description
Safavid blue and white bottle vase, Ardabil, circa 1670, with old metal-mount, of pear-shape with tall slender neck, the bulbous body decorated with a continous scene of four Chinese figures in robes seated in a fenced garden, below a band of lappets, the neck with a band of ruyi heads and a simple floral design comprised of small dots.
Condition: Broken and re-stuck.
Notes: A 17th century jar from Iran in the V&A Collection depicts similarly seated and clothed figures holding bottles and vases, museum number: 1224-1876.
