Description

Rare Chinese blanc de chine pot and cover, Kangxi (1662-1722), of globular form, with moulded decoration of prunus, the handle with applied moulded flowerheads, the lid moulded with stylised petals, the body with moulded stylised flowers, the base with radiating chrysanthemum petals.

Height: 12.5cm. (5in.)

Some sanding

For an illustrated pot without the loop handle see Donnelly, P.J. (1969). Blanc de Chine. Faber, p.117, pl.66A. Donnelly notes that the jar in pl.66A "has stumpy little handles which look as though they were going to be the foundation for a overhead loop but the potter had second thoughts".
