Notes: The assortment of objects decorating these vases are some of the ‘hundred antiques’, a symbolic collection of scholarly accoutrements and auspicious Buddhist emblems. Commonly employed in ceramic and textile design during the Kangxi period, the hundred antiques motif celebrated good taste, education and the refined aesthetic appreciation of the gentleman collector.
