Description
Japanese Arita blue and white kraak-style plate, c.1700, decorated in deep cobalt blue to the central roundel with a pair of birds in flight, another pair below on the ground amongst grasses, seedpods and blooming peony heads, the wide rim with eight sections containing further flowers, blossom and artemisia leaves, the reverse with two floral sprays and spur marks.
Condition: Good
Notes: An Arita kraak-style plate with similar central design is in the collection of the V&A (1711-1876)
