Description
Chinese Canton enamel tray, Qianlong (1736-95), of square form with chamfered corners, decorated with a narrative scene of two scholars in a landscape engaged in reading beneath a pine tree, with an inscription, within narrow red bands and stylized foliate scrollwork against a pale-turquoise ground, the reverse similarly decorated with a single floral sprig in pink to the base.
