Description

A pair of early Chinese Canton enamel pomade pots and covers, Qianlong (1736-95), each painted in enamels in the famille rose palette with three ogee-shaped panels containing flowers including camellia, prunus, rose and peony, set against a dark blue ground with tropical flower heads and scrolling green foliage below a band of pink scrollwork and a further band with a garland of feathery leaves against a white ground, the foot with blue scrollwork, the covers with gilt metal rims and painted with petals radiating from central gilt knop against a blue ground with green leafy scrolls; each with catalogue label '76' to base, one with British Antique Dealers Association (BADA) customs label to base.
