Description
A pair of Chinese Canton enamel pricket candlesticks, Qianlong (1736-95), the fluted tapering stems painted with panels of flowers in famille rose colours, the drip panels, bases and undersides painted with overlapping flower heads, with central spikes, the bases with applied catalogue numbers '94'.
Height: 12.5cm. (4 15/16in.)
Provenance: John Sparks Ltd. Purchased by the vendors in the 1980s.
This piece was loaned by the vendors to be included in an exhibition of Chinese Painted Enamel at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford in 1978, curated by Michael Gillingham.
