Description
A blue and white 'lotus' jar, Ming Dynasty, Wanli (1573-1620), of lobed octagonal form, the globular body rising from a recessed base to a short lobed collar rim, decorated to the exterior in a rich cobalt blue with stylised flowering lotus stems with curling foliage, all above a stiff leaf band and circular bands to the foot, the neck with scrolling flowerhead motif.
