£29,000.00
Description
A Victorian three row crescent brooch, with a removable, original, sapphire insert and newly made, removable, old-cut diamond and ruby inserts, with the sapphire and the rubies mounted in gold and the diamonds mounted in silver-upon-gold, with a surround of old-cut diamonds, graduating from the centre, with a channel of old-cut diamonds, in grain settings, with flat edge on the inside, and a row of old-cut diamonds, in grain and cut down settings, over a gold, pierced gallery, on the outside curve, mounted in silver-upon-gold, circa 1890, with a later pin and roller catch fitting. In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
This original antique brooch has been enhanced with an optional ruby centre and an optional diamond centre, made in our London workshop.
Total weight 23.14 grams. With sapphire insert only 15.37 grams.
