An impressive large English pocket chronometer. Although utilising an Earnshaw escapement there is evidence the watch was supplied by Arnold. Although rarely used by them they produced some with Earnshaw escapements. This form of "Z" balance was rarely used by other makers at the time. The serial number, 1891, aligns with Arnold's numbering for pocket chronometers. No. 1890 which has a "Z" balance is listed as being Hallmarked 1803 also made by Daniel Walker. Arnold No. 1943 has an Earnshaw escapement, the case also by Daniel Walker. William Reid, working in Ball Alley, Lomdard Street from 1795 until being made bankrupt 9 March 1830. Casemaker Daniel Walker, 49 Clerkenwell Close, frequently found on Arnold pocket chronometers from late 1790s to 1805.
