Description
Chinese famille verte ribbed wine pot and cover, Kangxi (1662-1722), on three bracket feet with upright handle and gently curved s-shaped spout, decorated in overglaze polychrome enamels; the body with eight moulded panels containing flowers including orchid, chrysanthemum, peony, prunus and lotus issuing from rockwork with flying insects overhead; the handle with banded yellow ‘bamboo’ pattern, the neck with bands of dots and scrolling pattern in iron-red; the lid decorated with further floral panels and surmounted by a bud-shaped finial.
Height: 16.5cm. (6 1/2in.)
Condition:
Some glaze chips at handle, body and spout. Minor glaze chips to lower rim and a glaze chip to tip of the knob. The cover with a chip to inner rim

A similar wine pot can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (C.430&A-1926).
