Description
Chinese famille rose tureen cover, Qianlong (1736-95), with chamfered corners, decorated with a peacock and peahen standing on a grassy mound with rockwork, surrounded by blossoming flowers including aster and branches of peony; the rim with a garland of scrolling foliage and tropical blooms, surmounted by a moulded pomegranate fruit handle with applied leaves, partially peeled to reveal seeds inside.
