Description
Chinese blue and white beaker vase, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated to the centre with quatrefoil cartouches containing two fan shaped panels variously enclosing a seated man in a fenced garden underneath a flowering branch and pagoda, with beribboned precious objects, with flowering branches including lotus and peony to the base and upper body, within a flowerhead and ruyi patterned bands. Condition: restored chip to foot, hairline to rim. For a similar example see, Jorg, Christiaan, ‘Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum: The Ming and Qing Dynasties’, pl. 284, p. 257. This pattern is also found on other blue and white vessels of differing shape.
