Description

A fine Chinese Qianlong Canton enamel bowl, the interior painted with four, five clawed dragons, in green, pink, red and blue, each surrounded by colourful clouds on a white ground, the exterior painted with scattered flowers and trailing leaves on a rich Imperial yellow ground. The base painted with a blue dragon and with applied label 'Chien Lung Period 1736-1795 AD'. 18.5 cm diameter.

Condition:

Some interior crazing, Some very minor wear in places. Exterior generally in very good condition, a few minor surface scratches, very light crazing and marks.

This piece was loaned by the vendors to be included in an exhibition of Chinese Painted Enamel at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford in 1978, curated by Michael Gillingham.
