Description
Old cut diamonds are antique diamonds that were cut by hand before modern machines were invented. They are also known as "old mine cut". Diamond cutters used their eyes and other diamonds as cutting tools.The cutters followed the natural shape of the rough diamond, which was octahedral, or like two pyramids stacked base to base.The cutters assessed each diamond individually to bring out its best colour and sparkle. The cuts were less structured and unique, resulting in a hand-created, organic aesthetic.
