Description
First ever quartz Rolex in the world, Rolex Texano, Ref. 5100, year 1971.
In 1971, Rolex revolutionized the watch industry with the introduction of the Rolex Texano, Ref. 5100, their first-ever quartz timepiece.
Powered by the groundbreaking Beta 21 movement, a pioneer of quartz technology, the watch represents a milestone in horological innovation.
Its story, moreover, extends beyond its technical revolution. Named "Texano" (Italian word for Texans), the model was initially available only through pre-orders to Texas oil manufacturers. With only 900 pieces crafted in yellow gold and just 100 in white gold, the Texano remains one of the rarest watches in Rolex's history.
The accompanying paperwork also grants owners an exclusive privilege: the opportunity to visit Rolex's headquarters in Geneva, as seen in the second page of our post.
