Pair of Chinese famille rose 'Danish market' armorial plates, Qianlong (1736-95), decorated with a central roundel containing an armorial achievement surmounted by a crown, beside which stand the figure of Minerva looking on as putti play with garlands of flowers, the cavetto with a husk chain in green and gilt, the rim with a moulded and reeded edge

Shallow frits to rim, slight wear to gilding

Notes:
This service is thought to have been made for the King's Club in Copenhagen (Kongens Klub) which was founded in 1775. According to Howard and Ayers 'the arms of this service incorporate the lions of Denmark, the lion of Norway and the crowns of Sweden'.
