Faberge Late 19th to early 20th century decorative burl wood box decorated with enamel, 88 Zolotniki silver and diamonds.

The central feature of the box is a detailed floral motif, with vibrant red and green enamel work on silver. The use of cloisonné enamel, where compartments or "cloisons" are created using thin strips of metal and then filled with enamel, is a signature technique often employed by Fabergé. The intricate enamel work in the floral designs on the lid showcases the high level of skill and artistry involved.
The box also incorporates diamond accents set in silver, complementing the enamel and adding to the overall elegance of the piece. The wooden base of the box, possibly made from a burl wood, provides a warm, organic contrast to the colourful enamel and cold brilliance of the diamonds.
The hallmarks on the box, "88" and "AH," are significant. The "88" hallmark indicates the silver purity, which is .916, equivalent to 88 zolotniks in the Russian system of measurement. This standard of silver was commonly used in high-quality Russian silver items. The "AH" hallmark refers to the maker's mark, which in this case could be attributed to Alexander Holmström, one of Fabergé's well-known work masters who specialized in silver and enamel work.
