Description
An antique crescent moon brooch, the body is set with a row of old-cut diamonds, graduating in size, tapering to rose-cut diamonds, with rose-cut diamonds, set between on the outer edge, weighing an estimated total of 3.50 carats, claw set in silver-upon-gold, with a plain inner curve and cut down set outer curve, with pierced gold gallery work below, with a later pin and roller catch fitting, English, circa 1890. In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
