Silver brush

Silver brush ,/ probably from a traveling toilet service/ These toilet services would contain all necessary aides to coiffure one in the last quarter of the seventeenth century. The Royal Court was very often on the move, and where the King was there were his ministers, church leaders, Royal advisers, foreign ambassadors, courtiers etc. All of them travelling with all the paraphernalia needed to keep up with etiquette.Travelling toilet services would contain at least three brushes, a mirror, a pair of candlesticks one chamber stick one ewer and basin at least three of four toilet boxes, one soap box and one sponge box. All in silver probably bearing the arms of the owner..The whole service would be in a large fitted box/ coffer with two massive handles for the footman to carrie by/ The brush with silver top is hallmarked London 1695 the and engraved armorial. Measurements:85 mm x 65 mm
